Styling Black Outfits on Lazy Days
On lazy days, I wear lots of black, especially in winter. You could wear the same black top twice in a week to work and no one would notice it, right ? However, black could be boring over time. Here is how I style black to make it a bit more fun for a casual occasion.
They say, “when in doubt, wear black.”
There is no such thing as wearing too much black, unless you’re living in a tropical country where wearing black head-to-toe might be a little impractical. Black is never too formal or too dressed down for most occasions. However, it can be considered a bit boring over time and difficult to make a statement.
Here are some styling tips to make black more fun to wear.
1. Pairing it with a 'bold' or 'statement’ item
Everyone has their own definition of ‘bold’. I don't believe there should be one definition for it in fashion. For instance, if you don’t usually wear lots of prints, a colourful print skirt might be your 'bold' item, or red lipstick could be your 'statement' item if you don't normally wear it.
2. Accessorise
It’s the little things that make a huge difference. These days I'm in love with delicate accessories. Remember accessories also includes hats, scarves, head and hair pieces. I'm also loving the baker hats this winter.
3. Boots and Heels
To finish off the look, boots or heels would instantly add extra chic-ness. I normally pair my black top with black boots or heels. When I'm wearing black head-to-toe, I'd rock my red pumps as my 'statement' item.
